Rating: R

Reason for the Rating: Some sexuality and nudity

PopFam Rating: B-

Quick Summary: Based on the bestselling novel by Kazuo Ishiguro, Never Let Me Go is the story of three friends who grow up at an elite boarding school in England. What makes this story different is that all three are clones - born and bred for the sole purpose of donating their vital organs to "real" people in medical emergency. And so, as Ruth, Kathy, and Tommy grow, the friends must wrestle with issues of eternity, of soul, of love, hope, and despair. And they must come to terms with their own imminent, sacrificial mortality.

The subject matter and measured pace mean this is not a great pick for everyone, but thoughtful parents may enjoy the moral exploration of soul and life displayed in this film, as well as the fine acting by Knightly, Garfield, and Mulligan. ONE BIT OF ADVICE: Read Ishiguro's book first or else the movie might not make sense.

The Blu-ray Disc version of this film includes behind-the-scenes featurette, along with photographic stills and props.
