6 – 1 =….
Posted by Ethan on Mar 16, 2010 in Featured | 2 commentsSo, just yesterday my sister Rachel mentioned to me that she wasn’t able to post a comment on the blog because I have a spam control box that requires you to add or subtract two numbers before it will allow you to post a comment. She said that she couldn’t post because it kept telling her that her numbers didn’t add up.
Well, this morning at 4:30 am, Shannon and I were awakened to the sound of a suffering animal in the backyard. We assumed it was a chicken, but it also didn’t cause any panic for us because I think we figured, well, if whatever it is has a chicken, there isn’t much we can do about it now. I also didn’t really think it was a chicken, just that it may have been a cat or something squealing.
So, I look out the window a little later in the morning and count 5 chickens. This isn’t unusual as there is usually one in the coop laying an egg. So I wait a little bit and look out to count again, and again there are only 5 chickens. So I finally decide I better go out and investigate. Sure enough, I was able to quickly identify a trail of feathers that lead to the far side of the yard. I follow the trail and find the chicken, missing a head and the egg that was inside of it was extricated and eaten.
My initial assumption was that a coon or fox got to it. But after sharing the story with a friend at work, he suggested that it may have been a skunk. A skunk, Really? So I look it up online and find this little gem of a site, which the last paragraph describes exactly what I found along our fence line. So, we will go back to making sure our chickens are locked up at night, and I will have a loaded gun to shoot whatever it is that will surely be back to get the remaining 5 chickens.
So Rachel, if you’re going to make a comment about this post, 6 – 1 = 5 (chickens)

I didn’t like skunks due to their smells. But now I really don’t like them.
Not even cute. Jerk of a Skunk.
I hope the other 5 get locked up and you have good aim with your shot gun.
ok I have to remember to go to this site. I keep forgetting to update it on my blog. This is about the grossest thing I’ve ever heard.
